M.B.S.V4 is a site specific installation at 4Most Gallery by Ashley Browne, Brianna Piedra, and John ‘Feeshy’ Walker. The installation is rooted in thinking about architecture functioning as a simulation. Pre-sim reality being a pre-infrastructure world. In thinking that a simulation is essentially a new space/reality created within a pre-existing space, architecture creates pocket simulations. And in thinking about this, considering each shift in the function of the building as a different version of the simulation.
M.B.S.V4 references simulation history of the 4Most building. The acronym, which stands for Milk, Bike, Sue, Version 4, references the past ‘simulations’ of the architecture. The origins of the building beginning with a dairy company, then a bicycle shop, then to the 4Most Gallery which is currently run by Sue Montoya, the artist in residence. The installation is displayed in a museum style with intersections into a sort of purgatory stage as it depicts the history of the previous simulations yet is rooted in the current ‘S.U.E.’ version. The simulation will be falling apart on itself, seemingly cracking as it prepares to undergo another evolution into the next simulation - V4.
